One of the best things about this part of France is the changing seasons. While the French Riviera is typically milder than other parts of Provence, you are unlikely to see many bikini-clad bathers in November. The 11th month of the year is full of surprises with often crisp mornings, cool enough to catch your breath. The sun tries hard to warm the air with varying degrees of success. When a mistral blows in, hang on to your hat as the temperature drop is often dramatic, and the violent gusts might send any stray clouds toward North Africa, leaving behind a cobalt blue sky.
Speaking of blue, if you are anywhere near Aix-en-Provence, head to Hôtel de Caumont for the Yves Klein exhibit with 50 works from public and private collections. The show runs until March 23rd and is your chance to see his signature blue colour for yourself. Download the new Cezanne App created by the Tourism Office for a smartphone-guided tour of the famous artist's life in Aix. Before leaving Aix, discover the city's signature perfume, a Rose et Marius fragrance, available at the Tourism Office.
