As we hopefully move forward toward some positive possibilities, I offer my first installment of a special feature I call “Karola’s Korner.” Even in her absence, her presence continues to guide me. An expression she used occasionally seems to resonate at this particular juncture. "From time to time you need to reinvent yourself." That didn’t imply a surgical makeover or personality reassignment. No. One meaning for Karola was to simply change one small aspect of outer appearance, whether in clothing, hair, or physical accessory. A more profound meaning was to take inventory of yourself, in terms of your thoughts, habits, and patterns in daily living. To jumpstart your engine in life, to flush out the sludge and stimulate a fresh flow, the following would be some of Karola’s helpful hints to reduce the to-dos and increase the ta-dahs in your life:
- Try a different look.
- Walk a different path.
- Initiate a new friendship.
- Learn something you don’t know.
- Go somewhere you haven’t been.
- Do something you haven’t done.
