Welcome to my Universe!

Welcome to the month of Love!

For me, February isn't about Valentine's Day necessarily, but about celebrating Love in all forms. I thought it would be fun to share some of the things I love this month, and invite you to drop me an email to share some things that you love to do as well! You can always reach me at da@dahenneman.com.

So my loves are all over the place, and there are too many to count, so I narrowed it down to my top four. Family & Friends, Chocolate & Cheesecake, Spa & Selfcare & Sharing with Others.

Spending time with

Family & Friends

I am blessed when it comes to this, and absolutely love spending time with my loved ones any chance I get. I try to make it a point to be present, mindful and focused on the time I have with them, which can be hard with so many things going on in my life.

What helps me is scheduling blocks of time for each task, and fully engaging with whatever I have planned for that time. Whether it be writing, visiting or resting, the task gets my full attention for the time planned. This allows me to focus on the "now" which has made a huge difference in my life.

Who doesn't love

Chocolate & Cheesecake

Okay, so there may be folks out there that don't love either, but I have to tell you that Cheesecake and Chocolate in any form is my weakness. Put them together and... OMG! I will be yours forever!

I don't have a lot of time to bake but have been craving cheesecake for some time now, so I am thinking it is time to crack out my springform pan. Here is where you come in! If you have an amazing recipe you would like to share, I want to try it! Drop me an email with your favorite recipe for cheesecake and I will give it a shot! I promise pictures and a review in a future newsletter, but not promising how pretty it will be... it has been a while since I've baked! Recipes can be sent to da@dahenneman.com!

How do I love thee....

Spa & Selfcare

There is nothing I love more than going to the spa and getting pampered! Facials are my jam since they generally include a hand massage and I love nothing more than having someone rub the cramps from my fingers. Spa day is generally a treat that I give myself after making a self-imposed deadline or finishing a book.

For the times in-between, I make a conscious effort to include Yoga, Meditation or Walks into my routine. It is amazing what kind of things I can conjure up on a stroll through the trees! Self-care for me also includes feeding my craving to learn new things, so I set aside time to attend writing workshops, educational sessions and meet with my critique partners. I have found that setting aside time for myself has made me a much happier person to be around. Plus, in my opinion, you can't drink from the well if it's dry. Replenishing the creative well is something I definitely fit into my self-care routine!

Coming up....
AKA: What else have I gotten myself into?

I'm busy working on edits for no less than three projects and just started drafting the second book in my Paranormal Cozy Mystery. My intent was to get all my edits done before jumping full force into a new book, but it is hard for me to not have something creative to work on! I am taking my time on it though since keeping my head in the Power of Four is crucial while I wrap up the series. I will update you next month on how my juggling went! So much to do, so little time!

I am also planning on heading to the Ann Arbor District Library and listening to Madeline Miller speak about her book "Circe." I am super geeked to meet her and learn a bit about her research on the Goddess of Witchcraft! For those of you who like Mythology who haven't read her book, I highly recommend it! She will be presenting on the 7th of February.

In the meantime, happy reading, and don't forget to send me your favorite cheesecake recipe! Chat soon! XO
