We all have to start somewhere.
And the way to keep growing is remembering where you started. When learning new skills, things can get frustrating sometimes, so it's important to remind ourselves of the power of "yet".
I can't do a double pirouette... yet.
Every time a student attends class there is unavoidable growth, whether they realise it in the moment or not. By showing up, you are making progress.
According to our students, growth can look like:
- Learning dance terminology and understanding what is being asked of them without a demonstration.
- Junior students being able to stay in their spot without the help of place mats.
- Finally landing that cartwheel properly.
- Getting approved for pointe work.
- Being able to do the same skills, but breathing!
- Accepting skills that are taking time to master, without giving in to frustration.
