"That is why we labor and strive, because we have put our hope in the living God who is the Savior of all people, and especially of those who believe." - I Timothy 4:10 (NIV)
What is hope?
Biblical hope is rooted in the person and work of Jesus Christ. He is our hope - the Way back to a right relationship with God, the Truth to light our path, the Life that breathes into us, guiding us to God's purpose for our lives.
I recently stepped further into God's purpopse for my life. I am sharing hope by teaching my book, LIVE IT OUT - Hope, as a Bible study. I was invited by a friend of mine from church to share the truth about hope with her small group. They've been meeting for years...and I have to say, the group isn't that small. 17 people! Wow!
I took my place in the circle gallery of faces, and we introduced ourselves. We shared who we were and how we define hope. The definitions included:
"A knowledge that God is in control."
"Light in everything around us."
"He is always with us."
"Settleness in my soul."
"Confident expectation in who God is and what He says."
It was beautiful to hear the heart descriptions of hope and how it can guide our lives when we put our faith in Jesus.
I researched the biblical words for hope and foud that they mean "to trust and wait expectantly." (christianity.com)
We can trust and wait expectantly or be confident in our hope because God's love for us is sure. May you find hope in Him today and may that hope guide you to God's purpose for your life.
