What’s in a name?
Welcome to the first ever MEDiversity Newsletter! We are excited to have you here with us, to stay informed and up to date with equity, diversity, and inclusion efforts at University of Utah Health. As part of this new newsletter, we are now the Office of the Associate Vice President for Health Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion. As you can tell we now bear the name Diversity, but what does that mean exactly? It means cohesion with the Vice President for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion—we are One U after all. It also realigns our office name to our mission which is to create a campus climate that is equitable and inclusive, but also diverse! Our hope is to create an open dialogue that will elevate the level of service we provide to our campus.
MEDiversity will be sent out monthly to keep you updated on programming, blog pieces, resources, announcements, and highlights from our office and our partners. As our office grows and evolves to better serve all corners of the University of Utah, we hope you will get acquainted with us (or re-acquainted!) and that we can get to know you! Until we can all be back together safely in person, feel free to drop us a line, read about our team here, and eventually swing by the office for a snack and some conversation on dismantling white supremacy. Our partnerships are crucial to the success of equity, diversity, and inclusion; without you, we can’t get as far. These last few months are a testament to the work we all must embark on to become more anti-racist, more inclusive, and has highlighted the importance of personal and institution-wide responsibility towards creating a better society for us all.
