VINES Named Chamber of Commerce Citizen Advocate of the Year

VINES was honored to receive the Greater Binghamton Chamber of Commerce's Citizen Advocate of the Year Award at their annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Tuesday November 13th. Amelia LoDolce, VINES' Executive Director, accepted the award on behalf of the organization's hundreds of volunteers and members. This award acknowledges VINES' achievements toward it's mission of creating a more just and sustainable food system here in the Binghamton area.

"VINES is an example of what can happen when a community comes together to work towards common goals," said Amelia LoDolce, VINES executive director. "We've come a long way in the last decade, and we have big plans moving forward to create more jobs for youth, build new gardens, and make fresh, affordable food accessible to many more people in the process."

Stacy Richards Receives Klee Foundation Volunteer Award

Stacy Richards, Site Coordinator of VINES' Liberty Street Community Garden, was the recipient of the 2018 Volunteer Recognition from the Conrad and Virginia Klee Foundation. She was recognized for her outstanding and tireless volunteer work with VINES and the Healthy Lifestyles Coalition. Stacy has managed the Liberty Street Community Garden for three years, helped open a food pantry at the Lee Barta Community Center, is leading the expansion of the Liberty Street Community Garden, and much more. While she'd rather stay out of the limelight and says she doesn't do what she does for recognition, she is well deserving of this acknowledgment for her hard work and dedication. Thank you, Stacy, for all that you do for our community!
