CHARITY ART AUCTION, Gusto Café, Hillside, Friday 17th July 6pm-8pm

Local artists are donating pieces of their work to raise money for the hard-git Penang trishaw drivers. Members of the public are invited to view the works at Gusto cafe in Tanjung Bungah from 6pm until 8pm, and bidding closes at 8pm. More details here.

FILM - THE HOLE, The Screenery, Friday 17th July 7pm-10pm

The Hole (Chinese: 洞; pinyin: dòng; literally: 'hole'), also known as The Last Dance, is a 1998 drama-musical film directed by Tsai Ming-liang. It stars Yang Kuei-mei and Lee Kang-sheng. A man and a woman live in quarantine from a virus whose victims display strange symptoms. The Screenery is in George Town. MAP THE LANGURS’ HOME NATURE WALK, Tropical Spice Garden, Teluk Bahang, Saturday 18th July 8.45am-11.30am

Explore the rainforest and learn about the travelling routes, food plants, and friends of the endangered dusky langurs. RM 50 per person includes an entrance fee to Tropical Spice Garden, knowledge sharing, souvenirs, and donation for langur research & conservation efforts in Penang. FILM - CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON, The Screenery, Saturday 18th July 7pm-10pm

Ang Lee’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was a surprise international success, won over 40 awards, and was nominated for 10 Academy Awards. It has been praised for its story, direction, and cinematography, and for its martial arts sequences. The Screenery is in George Town. UNCUT - LIVE FROM THE BLUE ROOM, ART, online, Saturday 18th July 8pm

How do artists around the world cope with current challenges facing the art world, and how do they individually overcome these challenges and stay positive for brighter days ahead? What exciting plans lay ahead?

Host Joe Sidek concludes the Uncut series with Indonesia's top sculpture artist Joko Avianto, the guy who put George Town on the world map, street artist Ernest Zacharevic (Lithuania) and Penang's very own visual artist & writer, Regina Ibrahim.

ABBA TRIBUTE, online, Saturday 18th July 9pm

GETTING BY PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITION, Online, Ongoing

Artists and photographers from Malaysia and around the world visualise their way of 'getting by' amidst the current COVID-19 pandemic, with portraits, landscapes, poems as well as lumen prints. Link to exhibition here.

UNCERTAINTY DISSOLVES EXHIBITION, Museum Galeri Tunku Fauziah, Until 29th August

The gallery at USM is now open to the public again, and you can visit to look at the works of recent alumni of the department of fine arts at the University. Opening hours Monday to Friday 8am-4pm, Saturday 8am-12pm, closed on Sundays. More information on their Facebook page here.

CAPITALISM: AN ANTI-IMPERIALIST POSTER EXHIBITION, Ruang Kongsi, Jalan Sungai Dua, Gelugor, Until 31st August

77 artists from 26 countries and 21 organisations, share their realities.The posters displayed in this physically in this exhibition are part of the the Online Anti-Imperialist Poster Exhibitions jointly curated by International Week of Anti-Imperialist Struggle and Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research. Balik Pulau Art Society has their 10th Annual Art Exhibition at Penang State Art Gallery, Dewan Sri Pinang, 3rd Floor. Opening hours 9am-5pm daily, closed on Fridays. Admission is free of charge.

MEET THE ARTIST, Art & Garden, Friday 24th July 9am-1.30pm

Visit Art & Garden where owner, artist, and garden designer Fuan Wong will be host and guide. An enthusiastic plant collector and major creative talent, he has juxtaposed exotic planting and his own extravagant glass art with paintings and sculptures by local and international artists to create a garden where it is sometimes hard to separate the natural from the man-made. PANEL: CREATING SAFE SPACES FOR SOCIALLY-ENGAGED ARTS, Online, Saturday 25th July 5pm-6pm

A curated panel sharing discussing the insights, challenges and processes related to creating performances that express social concerns. This panel invites Aida Redza, Choreographer and Performance Maker; Soonufat Supramaniam, Educator and Performance Maker; Chen Yoke Pin Programs Manager at Arts-Ed Penang and Lawrence Chin, Project Unscripted, Director and Performance Maker.
