We start this weeks newsletter with some news.  Sadly, due to family circumstances, Karen has decided to leave her role at KTA and her last day will be Friday 27th May.  Karen will be a huge loss to the business as she has a wealth of knowledge, expertise and experience.  She first joined KTA in 2003, leaving in 2009 when she had her daughter Olivia.  She returned to KTA in 2012 and has been here ever since.  I am sure that you will join us in wishing Karen all the very best for whatever the future might hold.

We have recently reviewed the symbols that we have on the Visit Keswick website and have added the following:

• Room only - if you offer this and have online booking, please ensure that this option is set up and bookable.
• EV Charging - this symbol is available across all business types.  You are required to have a dedicated charging point.

As in previous years we will be attending Keswick Mountain Festival (20th-22nd May) and have the following marketing opportunities available for members:

• Offer a prize for the free prize draw.  In return we will display your leaflets on our stand and tag your business in our KMF promotional social media posts over the course of the event.
• Display your leaflets on our stand at a cost of £10+vat

Dept. for Work and Pensions have organised a Jobsfair specifically for businesses in Keswick. It was felt that an event of this type would be welcomed and a good way to reach out to the unemployed in Workington and Cockermouth areas to sell the benefits more about working in Keswick!

The event will be held on Thursday 19 May 2022, 10am to 1pm at Workington Jobcentre. You will need to take along any promotional material with you to help sell your jobs and there will be interview rooms available if you feel you could interview anyone there and then.

Each employer will be allocated their own desk space and customers will filter in between the above times and speak to you individually about your jobs and will be prepared with CV’s if you need to contact them after the event too.

B5292 Whinlatter Pass - A temporary Road closure has been put in place to allow Cumbria highways to carry out surface dressing works which are expected to commence 9th May 2022 and anticipated to take 3 days to complete.

Location: B5292 Whinlatter Pass, from a point approx. 215m south of its junction with the U2203, extending in a southerly direction for a distance of approx. 5.76km.

Alternative Route: Via the unrestricted sections of the B5292, A66 and A5086 and a way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.

U2225, Applethwaite - A temporary Road closure has been put in place to allow Telecom Infrastructure Ltd to carry out maintenance works on behalf of Paragon Traffic Management Ltd which are expected to commence 16th May 2022 and anticipated to take 10 days to complete.

Location: U2225, Applethwaite, from its junction with the A591, extending to its junction with the U2226

Alternative Route: Via the U2226 and the A591.and a way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
