Esther is the account of a young woman experiencing something very difficult. She had little control, and it was hard to see God at work.

But if we look closely, we can see God's hand on Esther's life. If we follow her courageous example, we will grow in our ability to trust God when we feel out of control.

Trunk or Treat!

CCLW is excited to host another Trunk or Treat! 

When: Sunday, October 27 - cars in place by 3:15 with event being from 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Where: Main Parking Lot at CCLW

New Youth Spiritual Formation Class

We’re launching a 10-week spiritual formation course for 6th-12th graders starting January 12th and running through April 13th (with breaks during school vacations). This course is designed for students who are interested in church membership, baptism, or deepening their faith. Each student will be paired with an adult mentor to encourage and invest in them spiritually. Those who complete the course will be presented to the congregation in the spring. This is a wonderful opportunity for your son or daughter to own their faith and become rooted in our church family! Email marquis@cclw.org for more information.

The Young at Heart group will meet Thursday, November 14th, at 11:00 a.m. in the Gathering Space for pumpkin pie and coffee! 

If you are willing to bring a large pumpkin pie, please contact Faye Wlodyka as soon as possible at musicbyfaye@aol.com or call 803-507-7447.

Depending upon attendance, we will need approximately 8-10 large pies. This meeting will allow us time to count our blessings and discuss plans for 2025. You will also receive further information about our Christmas party to be held on Friday, December 20th, at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $20 per person.

CCLW / Habitat for Humanity Work Day

WHEN: Saturday, November 23, from 7:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

WHERE: 468 Hall Street, York, SC

Primary Tasks: Floor Underlayment

Number of volunteers: 8-10

Please note the age requirement is 18 or older.

Workday Outline:

7:45 am: Registration Table is open.

8:00 am: Volunteer arrives, signs in, and receives name tags.

8:15 am: Welcome, staff and lead volunteers’ introductions, safety procedures & tasks review.

8:30 am: Workday begins and breaks into work groups.

11:30 am: 30-minute lunch break, lunch will be provided; Volunteers enjoy rest and fellowship.

12:00 pm: After lunch, work for the day continues until the day’s tasks are completed.

3:00 pm: Workday ends. Please note the day may end earlier if all tasks are completed.

FOOD ASSISTANCE FOR THE BLESSING BOX

Clover Area Assistance Center (CAAC) prevailed on CCLW to install a mini pantry (Blessing Box) in 2023. The canned goods left in the box are intended for the local homeless as well as families who need help stretching their food supply. CAAC reports that since COVID, they have seen a large uptick in Lake Wylie residents needing food assistance, and that is why we have the Blessing Box on the parking lot side of our church (follow the signs from highway 49).

We need your help. In order to keep this pantry filled with appropriate foodstuffs, we ask that you buy a few extra cans of food (see the separate list) when you are grocery shopping each week. Simply place them directly in the Blessing Box or put them on the table in Room 116. A member of the Missions Committee will do the rest.

Thank you for this ongoing support. Our local community continues to grow and with that growth comes new challenges. Feeding the homeless and helping families are responsibilities in which we can help.
