Sophisticated and elegant atmosphere, sober and minimalistic furniture and warm neutral tones, KALPA’s main space in Palazzo Bonomini, located in the historical centre of Volterra, is an in-progress project giving a platform for various arts in its time-hallowed rooms. Beginning with the restoration work of the ground floor in the spring of 2019, KALPA will expand its exhibition space in the Palazzo in 2022, unveiling its beauty step by step and taking inspiration from the philosophy of wabi-sabi to the recovery of the original atmosphere of the building.
In 2021, new exquisite artworks have graced our Gallery. Painting, raku and raw earth, bronze, stone and wood are the mediums of the artists, the voice of our gallery’s exhibitions and the core of KALPA’s vision of art living. In this context, Volterra Alabaster has played a special role: we have worked at placing alabaster at the heart of the city’s imagery, with a return to the raw material for the creation of new forms of expression.
Our artists’ inspiration ever begins with the observation of Nature, its physical and conceptual forms. There is no attempt to hide the marks, the artist’s gesture, the imperfections and the accidental signs making our KALPA collection unique.
