Whether for a holiday or extended stay most people arrive with an image (or hundreds) of the region in their mind. Where artists such as Paul Cézanne and Vincent Van Gogh recorded the wild natural settings one brushstroke at a time, today’s social media platforms project images to broad networks at lightning speed. The widely distributed imagery fuels a need, for some, to tick the boxes during their time in Provence, but we invite you to enjoy life at a slower pace.
Every town in Provence has a story. Spend time to discovering the history and the people who live there. The perched stone villages make attractive backdrops for holiday photos, but these towns were elevated and protected by fortified walls for a reason. To “dive” deeper into the history, local tourism offices, guided walking tours and historical societies are terrific resources.
Sadly, many spring events (here is the link) were cancelled this year due to Covid-19, hopefully, the calendar will be full next year.
