Get Ready for Boating Season

Boating season is rapidly approaching, and we know you are ramping up efforts to prepare for it. As you prep, be sure to keep your CVA equipment in mind. Below are some tips for each type of equipment. Feel free to contact Connie or Janine with any questions regarding your equipment as you prep it for boating season. We are here to help! 

For all equipment as you bring it back online or prep for the busy season, check in with us if you need major repairs or part replacements. A Small Grant may be available to cover the cost.

Floating Restrooms: This is the perfect time to order supplies for the floating restroom such as toilet paper, cleaning products, trash bags, etc. It is also a good time to check the anchoring system or pilings for wear, make sure navigation lights are working, ensure batteries are charging, and pressure wash the unit before it goes out.

Pumpouts and Dump Stations: Check on the condition of the external hoses for the pumpout and dump station and order a replacement if you find major wear. If you notice it is starting to look worn, this is a good time to order one to have on hand. Also check on the handle, sight glass, and nozzle to ensure they are in good condition, and order in spares if they are starting to look worn. Nozzles should be replaced annually. For the dump station, ensure the external hose and nozzle are in good condition.

Grant Opportunities, Deadline Approaching

The Boating Facility and Waterway Access Cycle One grant funding opportunity is now open through the Oregon State Marine Board (OSMB) until March 14, 2025. This is for projects with a total budget of more than $50,000. If your project is less than $50,000 consider applying for a Small Grant. Small Grant applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis or until funding has been spent. This is the perfect time to assess your equipment and determine what replacement parts and/ or equipment you will need. The best way to do this is to batch requests: comb through your equipment and associated infrastructure and make a list.
