I’m excited to introduce you to my monthly ‘Revival Spotlight’ letter, where I will be sharing some highlights from our pre-loved jewellery collection.
This month, my featured jewellery items from our Revival Collection include an Art Deco diamond ring, a chunky watch chain converted bracelet and a sweet gemstone ring from the Victorian period.
Second-hand jewellery pieces offer unique and unusual designs at brilliant prices. Antique pieces can provide us with a glimpse into the past and help us treasure the skills and art of forgotten goldsmiths and designers.
Personally, I have a particular soft spot for Art Deco (1910-1930’s) jewellery which is full of charm and interesting shapes with beautiful and bold cuts of diamonds and gemstones. An era famous for geometric shapes, innovative architecture and technology and all round glamour!
Each piece of jewellery from our Revival collection is carefully curated, which offers a range of modern, vintage and antique items. All second-hand jewellery is sold as seen, of course we clean and polish all items before we put them on display, so they look their absolute best.
I hope you enjoy the items I’ve picked this month for you! I’d also welcome any suggestions or requests of any era or jewellery designs that you’d like to learn more about that I could feature for your interest.
All the best,
A stunning Art deco ring featuring a central old cut diamond in a rubover style setting. This charming antique ring is known as a ‘target ring’. Target rings were first created in the Edwardian era (typically they were round in shape reflecting the bullseye from cupid’s bow and arrow), as a symbol of everlasting love with the round double halos creating sparkle and colour. This ring dates slightly later, drawing influence from the geometric shapes favoured in the Art Deco period. The Rubies were chosen to represent love and each one is hand cut to fit perfectly around the diamond.
A striking vintage pendant featuring a large Amethyst. This beautiful yellow gold pendant is inspired by popular Victorian Amethyst and Pearl brooches. The faceted Amethyst measures approximately 23x17mm, approximately 20ct, surrounded by delicate gold lattice work and a halo of Freshwater Pearls. I love the luscious deep purple colour of this Amethyst which makes it such an alluring pendant!
A classic antique watch chain converted into a bracelet. This beautiful handmade 9ct gold chain features the original albert clasp and hallmarks on each link. The bracelet has a lovely rose tone to the gold and heavyweight feel (25.5g). Originally watch chains were used to hold gentleman’s pocket watches in their waistcoats (think Peaky Blinders!). Circa 1920.
A sweet Victorian ring featuring Diamond, sapphire, Ruby and Pearls. The ring is hallmarked by the Chester Assay office and dated to 1892. It’s dainty gem-set clover leaf design is so charming and makes me think maybe it was offered once as a token of affection and luck.
