Bro. William Bland gave a rousing and comprehensive introduction to our guest preacher, Rev. Robert P. Gates, Sr, Pastor of Historic First Baptist Church at Camp Nelson.
Rev. Gates blessed us in song with “I Love The Lord; He Heard My Cries.” His text came from James 1:1-3 and he referenced in scripture, “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptation.” Rev. Gates' subject was, “I Get Joy When I Think About It.” He encouraged all to be “good soldiers of Jesus Christ. Be of good cheer. Never give up and put on the whole armor of God.” He reminded us that, “In this world there will be tribulation, but Jesus has overcome the world.” He pointed out that James was Jesus‘ brother and shared how the Holy Spirit breathed on James. James ultimately wrote to inform and help tribes scattered abroad due to Christian persecution. “James, a servant of God, had and used his own personal testimony to impact the world. Each of us needs our own testimony. James said he was a servant of God.” The book of James gives us a revelation of practical living as Christians…every believer in Christ! Rev. Gates emphatically shared, “It pays to serve Jesus!” “Keep your eyes on the prize of Glory! We are soldiers in the army of the Lord!”
At the conclusion of the service, Sis. Catherine Frye encouraged all to vote in the 2024 Election. Anyone needing assistance turning in their mail-in ballot should contact Sis. Frye. She’s happy, willing and able to help. The deadline to register to vote in this year’s election is October 7th at 4pm.
Rev. Gates closed out service singing ”Surely He’s Able To Carry You Through.”
The congregation and guests continued to fellowship after morning service. Light refreshments were served immediately following service in the Sunday School Assembly Area.
What a beautiful 40 Year Christians Group Anniversary celebration and program! Praise God for this wonderful day and service at Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church! Forty is a number of spiritual importance throughout the Bible, associated with periods of testing, preparation, transition and renewal. To God Be the Glory for Christians who have been on the battlefield for our Lord for at least 40 years or more. What a blessing!
