I'm sending this mission out a tad early, because it's a bigger project both for you and for the organization involved. I encourage you to involve your family, friends, co-workers, church, teams...share this far and wide!
To all our newcomers, thank you so much for joining! I hope you find this to be a fulfilling and meaningful use of your time! 🤗
When missions are completed, the families usually send over pics of these veterans (with big smiles) holding all the cards they received! I post the those pics on my facebook, instagram, and twitter- so make sure you're following along on your favorite platform! You can also scroll all the way down on this email to see recaps of recently completed missions if you don't use social media.
...here is Mission 61!!
Janine's Team Mission #61
Holiday Cards for our Veterans in Hospice
It's Veteran's Last Patrol 3rd Annual Operation Holiday Salute!
Teachers, managers, families, coaches, associations, companies...this is a GREAT group project. There are many veterans in hospice care who could use extra love this holiday season. Please take an hour or so out of your day to write to them. Here's how:
Create your own cards, buy a batch of cards, send postcards...they will love it all! Send as many as you would like. The more the merrier!!
Here is a message from Veteran's Last Patrol:
Last year we obtained and delivered over 30,000 Holiday Cards. Americans across the nation participated in this amazing operation to bring a little joy to veterans on their Last Patrol.
This year our goal is 50,000! Can you help us? You are welcome to send cards to us addressed: Dear Hero or Dear Veteran.
Our packaging and postage expenses for this drive to get these cards to dying veterans is significant. Would you consider a small donation to help? Tax deductible donations can be made here.
We're motivated to deliver as many Christmas & Holiday Greeting Cards to veterans in hospice care around the country as we can.
Please mail your cards no later than 12/3 to:
Veteran Last Patrol 140B Venture Blvd Spartanburg, SC, 29306
If you're sending more than one card, just put them in one package and send all together. No need for individual stamps on each card.

From Robert's sister Linda: "Janine, I received the box of cards and surprised at the overwhelming response. He was tearful when we, as a family, gave him the wishes of so many people across the country. Thank you for your kindness and consideration. It made his birthday a very memorable time for him. A brief update on Bob. He is allowed the use of a new drug under the compassionate care law. We hope it will add a little more time for him to be with us."

“Thank you again, Janine. Lt Col Thomas Bryan Crouch thoroughly enjoyed getting many birthday cards over the last few weeks. He couldn’t believe they came from so many different states and so many people of all ages. He asked to please let everyone know how much he appreciated people taking time to not only send kind words but to pay $.55 per card. He just couldn’t comprehend people would spend so much on an old man they didn’t know....One young student wrote “boy you are old, please tell us how you did it.” What a great chuckle!”

EVERGREEN MISSION for Veteran's Last Patrol:
This was our 51st mission, but we decided to keep it going:
Veteran's Last Patrol's mission is to serve veterans by bringing new friendships, honor ceremonies, & emergency assistance while in hospice care.
The organization is averaging a veteran's honor ceremony a week all over the country. At each ceremony they like to give a bunch of thank you cards to the veteran being honored.
Here's your mission! Write out generic thank you cards to veterans and send them to Veteran's Last Patrol. They will make bundles from the cards they receive and present them to our veterans.
Use whatever you'd like: thank you cards, scenic cards, postcards ... or better yet... MAKE cards and write notes of gratitude. Keep in mind these are for are for elderly and/or ailing veterans. Dear Veteran, Dear Hero as your salutation will work. Have children, students, young artists?? 🎨 Get them involved! Our veterans would love bright patriotic pictures, military branch logos, whatever they are inspired to create! Do you manage a group of people at your company? This is a meaningful office project too!
If you're sending more than one card (which is encouraged) no need to send each one individually - send them all in one envelope/package.
Send them to:
Veteran's Last Patrol
140B Venture Blvd
Spartanburg, SC, 29306
