It's great to see the days lengthening and the promise of spring in my little corner of the world at last. The chickens are happy and have started to lay again after a well earned couple of months off. The cats - as usual - couldn't care less. Wherever you are, I hope you're keeping warm and well.
UPDATE ON HELIX NEXUS
I wanted to give you a quick update on where I am with my next thriller - Helix Nexus. The writing is done. The edits are finished. The proofread and line edits are complete and the manuscript is now with my typesetter for the paperback. I've written the cover brief and I'll be starting work next week on the ebook formatting.
The current plan is to publish the book on the 7th of April 2021 with the ebook and paperback probably coming out on the same day. There's tons to do before then, but I wanted to reach out to invite you to join my Advance Review Team.
ADVANCE REVIEW TEAM
Authors love reviews and the more the better. Readers love reviews too. They give you a nice warm feeling that your hard-earned cash is going to be well spent.
If you've ever wondered how a book can have so many reviews immediately upon publication, I'm going to tell you. You might already know of course, in which case feel free to scroll down a bit.
Many authors have a team of reviewers already signed up and desperate to read their latest and greatest work. Once the book is ready, they receive a full copy, not a sample, not a draft, but the final polished product - hot of the press - so to speak. I'll be sending an ebook, by the way. Sadly, cost and geography mean I can't send paperbacks. Where was I? Oh yes, in exchange, all the author asks is that readers leave an honest review on Amazon on publication day and that's it.
Although Helix Nexus is my third book, I've never had an advance review team, so I'd like you to be a part of something new. Yeah, but how do I know if I'll like your stuff, Chris? Reasonable question.
Amongst other things, I've been working on my sales pitch. You can see it below. If you fancy jumping on the list and getting your advance ebook copy of Helix Nexus, take a look and if you like what you see, hit the "Add Me To The Team" link. I'd love to have you on board. Here's the pitch.
Helix Nexus by Chris Lofts
When Major Nathan Helix's commanding officer plunges 55 floors to his death, everybody agrees that Helix is the obvious choice of investigator.
Conflict erupts when the Home Secretary intervenes. Helix refuses to stand down and chooses suspension over desk duty. Determined to discover who murdered his friend and mentor, he joins forces with his cyber-genius brother Ethan.
Chains of evidence point back to a celebrated case, a case centred around politics and power, the pinnacle of Helix's career. The case is closed and Helix wants it left that way. But long lost family links lurk in the shadows and blood is thicker than water. He's not the only one determined to reveal his version of the truth.
The Home Secretary is handed explosive new evidence. The leaked documents demand the case be reopened placing Helix and the main prosecution witness, Doctor Gabrielle Stepper in the dock. She orders their arrest.
When he learns who's behind the leak and their lust for revenge, Helix knows he's waging a war on two fronts. Pitted against that and the system he thought he was part of, he has to find Gabrielle. This time, it's not just a fight for her reputation and his career, but a battle for their lives
