With the summer backpacking season wrapped up and the manuscript for my next book completed, I'm settling into my winter groove of more writing and less field research. (Look for Backpacking on Vancouver Island in May 2024!)
I've got lots of new posts on my site about my trip to Haida Gwaii including a Haida Gwaii travel guide, a guide to Gwaii Haanas National Park Reserve, tips for taking the Inside Passage Ferry from Port Hardy to Prince Rupert, and things to do in Prince Rupert.
I'm determined to keep up my summer hiking fitness over the winter, so I've been working out with a personal trainer and hiking the Stawamus Chief once a week.
And last week, I completed a bucketlist hike to Diamondhead, a sub-summit of Nch'kay (Mount Garibaldi) here in Squamish - it's a mountain I can see from my house. It was an epic 11-hour day with 1775 m of elevation gain over 31 km! It was a tough day but so worth it because I saw five mountain goats!!
