Come visit : drink coffee : eat cake

A big spring hello to all 'our Friends' of Hardie Park. Remember to tell your work colleagues and neighbours about us if they don't already know, we can't keep it a secret. Coffee, clubs, cake, company are on tap 7 days a week at the cafe and we want the whole community to feel welcome. Please make a date to come and visit us soon.

Adam gets his wheels in motion

Local man Adam Kortlandt is undertaking the gruelling 100-mile Prudential London/Surrey Bike Ride on Sunday 4th August 2019 and has chosen to support his local park that his daughters love to come to and play in.

What a star you are Adam, we are really grateful for your efforts!

So far we've raised £20,000 for the embankment slide, £25,000 is the goal. We are nearly there so anything donated will go towards making sure that it can be installed in time for the Summer!

If you are able to support Adam raising funds for your new community park slide please follow the link! - https://cafdonate.cafonline.org/9616

Bunny fun at the park with chickens too!

Thank you to everyone who supported our Easter Egg Hunt on the 13th April. Random weather, sunshine, rain and hail but the community still came out in force. The Easter bunny met lots of children who completed the hunt. Hardie Park volunteers manned the BBQ, stallholders set up and Little Legs Buses entertained the children with soft play and bounce. Our ex-battery hens were the star of the show. Thanks Pam for bringing them along to meet the children. Atilla the Hen, Margaret Hatcher and Winnie were very entertaining and even laid us an Easter EGG!

Due to the success of the BIG Easter event we arranged a mini hunt for Easter Saturday 20th April for just £1. Over 100 little ones came to do our 2nd hunt over the bank holiday weekend.

PS A massive thank you goes to the volunteers who supported the event including our DJ on the decking Owen Hill.  It's such fun to be part of a family day at Hardie. If you would like to give it a go we would love to have you on board! Just follow the volunteer link to register interest.

Chalkboard signwriting

Thank you to Leanne Archer who offered to write our menu and A-board beautifully in chalk. They look amazing. Leanne incorporated our new poem into the artwork too. Thanks to Jill Ashley for the words it sums up our park to a T.

If you are passing come and have a look.

Our Poem:

Happy to greet you, from 9 to 4, there’s food snacks and drinks, plus so much more.

All cosy and warm, just take a seat, toast your toes by the fire, it’s a great place to meet.

Relax on the decking, take in the view, try out a club, there’s plenty to do.

Digging and planting keeps our flowerbeds blooming, our gardeners would welcome your help with the grooming.

If you like DIY whatever the weather, dust off your tool-belt and share skills at “Shedder”.

Even four legged friends are welcome within...if polite to all others and use the poo bins!

Participation is all we ask of you, life is for living so join us and “DO”.

All ages can find something to raise a smile, it’s what makes our community so worthwhile,

Rest here and consider what you’d like to try, eat skate or play, the limit’s the sky!

Keep coming to visit, pass on our name, let us welcome you back, again and again.

The photo on the right we took this month early one morning in the park. It caused quite a stir on facebook with nearly 300 of our followers commenting! The lizard in the middle was photographed by one of our visitors. The Thameside Nature Park have confirmed that it is a common lizard so no worries that he's escaped, he's in his natural habitat.
