Our growers with their seedlings are tracking well, which means the highlight of the TreeProject calendar is almost here, our tree planting days! Whether it's a day for you to simply catch your breath in the countryside planting trees, connect with nature as a family or friendship group, or whether it's to bring your work team out for a corporate day - we suggest you book in early via the link above.

Kudos goes to William, who we believe is our youngest grower! At just 12 years old, William has successfully taken on growing a TreeProject kit - congratulations William for being so environmentally aware and for what you are doing to improve biodiversity.

Volunteering Position - Planting Supervisors

A one-off transporting volunteering opportunity

We're also looking for a trusted TreeProject community volunteer to transport 32 boxes of seedlings from Fairfield to Shelley (NE Victoria). Compensation for mileage will be offered. If overnight is required Upper Murray Landcare group is able to fund some accommodation.

GROWERS & COORDINATORS:

Autumn and Spring distribution growers and coordinators: An email with important information about shortfalls, surpluses, thinning, transplanting, and seedling maintenance was sent on Thursday last week with a reminder to update the Seedling Growth spreadsheet with the end of March details. Any questions please chat with your coordinator.

BUDDING PHOTGRAPHERS!

In 2022, councils across metropolitan Melbourne are collaborating to participate in the City Nature Challenge. Help Melbourne compete with cities from around the world by taking pictures of wild plants and animals between the 29th of April to the 2nd of May 2022 using iNaturalist. Let's show the world the incredible biodiversity of Melbourne.

During the 4-day window of this challenge, snap a photo of a plant or animal and upload it to iNaturalist making sure to include location details. The observations will automatically be pooled to this project so that residents of Melbourne can compete with participants from cities all over the world.
An example of how local councils are participating is Hume City Council and details of their plans and how to register for their seminar can be found here.
