An update regarding SydFolkFest21 and the current COVID Outbreak in NSW
As you may know, Greater Sydney is currently in lock down until 11:59pm on Friday 9th July due to an outbreak of COVID-19. While we are hopeful that this will be contained in the next few weeks the uncertainly, especially with the virulence of the Delta strain of the disease, is causing us concern regarding our ability to stage the Sydney Folk Festival in August.
Our committee met this morning to discuss what the impact on our various stakeholders might be if cancellation was to occur. Our current plan is to monitor the situation and, to meet again on July 10 when we expect to have a clearer idea of how things have progressed and what further restrictions, if any, might be in place. If at all possible, it is our intention to stage the Sydney Folk Festival in August and we will keep you informed as developments unfold.
Early Bird tickets are currently on sale and we will now keep these open until midnight, Sunday 12 July. Should the unthinkable occur and the festival is unable to proceed a full refund (excluding any Eventbrite booking fees) or other options for carrying tickets over will be made available to purchasers. Please stay connected through our website, social media channels or e-News platform for all the latest news.

Tales from the High Stool - 9pm.
Pádraig Ó Cuinn hosts this program on 2RRR with interviews with people involved in local & global music. Guests are invited into a virtual 'pub' to sit on 'The High Stool', & discuss music, musical influences, & whatever they like, with their virtual 'bar-person'.
This week his guest is Nerida Cuddy. Nerida grew up on the edge of a bush reserve in Sydney, & chose to spend most of her young adult years in far west NSW. She sees Australia as a weaving of ancient peoples & new, untold beauty & harsh extremes, resilience & brokenness; a land that holds us all. She has lived in the central west NSW town of Canowindra for 19 years, with a background of involvement with youth & community work. These experiences have contributed keen observation & insight to Nerida’s writing, in songs like ‘She Is a Woman’ – a lament & protest about violence against women – & 'Mother’s Heart', a song about an older friend who demonstrates the cohesion & connection deeply valued & practised in Australia’s indigenous culture. Her latest album, 'Woven', features Australian story-songs written with “real emotional & narrative depth” (Fred Smith), in the language of the Australian landscape. It is a beautifully recorded album & it leaves you with a feeling that you have just been wrapped up in the warmth of a blanket while sitting by a campfire in the bush!
Streaming live on 2RRR (88.5MHz FM). Podcasts online after each show. Send suggestions for music, suitable guest etc. to Patrick.
