Life on the farm went smoothly while I was awaiy at the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW) Conference in St. Louis. For the most part anyway, although Farmer Joe did have some difficulty chasing five little Easter Egger chickens into the coop at night. 

Hannah (one of the sheep) has been limping a bit. Some kind of issue with her front right hoof, but we don't see anything wrong, so we'll keep an eye on it and see how that progresses.

It took our barn cat, Cassie, a couple of days before she would start taking treats from Joe, but she warmed up to him after a while. She's been quite the huntress lately, too, regularly leaving mice for us to find.

Garrison disappeared into the Fisher Fine Arts Library.

More than a decade earlier, he’d attempted to recruit her brother, Grayson, but he’d been skeptical and resistant. They hadn’t bothered with Gavin. The boy seemed determined to get himself killed with the Army, so wooing him seemed a waste of time. He’d met Cate on several occasions. She was a sweet girl. Not hard like her brothers. Perhaps she was a bit green, but she would recognize that she’d been granted an exclusive opportunity that few others were allowed. A glance at his watch assured him that Miss Garrison would receive her invitation any minute now. If she had the sense of a fruit fly, she’d accept without hesitation, but he had a backup plan in place in case she failed to be easily intrigued.

His phone buzzed with confirmation. She’d received her letter. An invite to pledge the Zeta Gamma Xi sorority. A commonplace activity, so it wouldn’t raise any eyebrows. Yet, they were offering Cate the opportunity to make a real difference in the world. All of their members were wealthy and influential, but none compared to the wealth of the Garrison family. With access to their resources and connections, they’d be unstoppable.

Grave Secrets needs to be delivered to Patti in mid-September to prepare it for its October 16th release. I'm working hard to make sure that happens. 

Tara Grace Ericson and Liwen Ho have written their books for the upcoming Redemption Ridge series. They're next on my TBR so I can get context before I finish writing Wooing the Widower. 

In St. Louis at the ACFW conference, I had requests for Betrayed Trust (one from an agent and one from an editor for Love Inspired Suspense). So... I'm looking for one or two volunteers to help me ensure my manuscript is ready for submission. 

I have a Beta team, but I don't want to send it to the whole team quite yet. I need a single reader or two who excel at providing feedback. I want to know if they find any areas that are problematic. Are parts too slow? Does it sound preachy? Does it show the proper amount of emotional depth? Is the attraction between the characters emotional enough or too physical? 

That's the type of feedback I need, but I need it soon. If you think you have time to read it and get back to me with feedback within a few days, reply to this email and the first one or two people who reply will get an early copy (ebook). 

The regular beta team will get their copies at some point soon, but I want to start small.  If you haven't joined my beta team yet and wish to be added, email me. 

I also have an ARC team and a street team. Both have a few openings. Beta teams help improve the book. ARC teams review the finished product. Street teams help promote the book during release week. 

at times. Both characters are depicted as seasoned FBI agents, which makes certain oversights in their actions, especially when knowing a serial killer was targeting Fiona, somewhat incongruent. These lapses were minor annoyances in an otherwise well-crafted plot.

The novel's combination of relentless suspense and second chance romance ensures that it will appeal to a wide audience.
