Arles was a significant Roman settlement, one of the empire's most important cities outside Rome. On the banks of the fast-flowing Rhône River, the Romans built an arena, theatre, baths, and the necropolis of Alyscamps. However, probably most critically, there was highly organized trade along the river. We share some of the many reasons to visit Arles below.
The Alpilles are a small but dramatic limestone mountain range running east to west in the Bouches-du-Rhône. Surrounding the limestone peaks are vineyards, olive groves, charming villages and much more.
Nice is a big city compared to its neighbours on the French Riviera. However, Nissa la Bella has only been part of France since 1860, and its Italian roots remain present in the architecture and traditional dishes.
