The art of being happy requires extracting happiness from common things.
Hello , Happiness Fan,
I think you will enjoy this week's Happiness Report. It is all about how you can improve your happiness and improve the joy in your life.
Happiness Seems to Be Going to the Dogs
New research shows that dog ownership's psychological benefits are real —and especially valuable during the pandemic. According to studies, even small interaction with dogs triggers the production of oxytocin in the human brain. This hormone boosts happiness, trust, and relaxation, which can bring down anxiety and stress. It is safe to assume that oxytocin explains the warm and fuzzy feeling that comes with cuddling your dog. Interestingly, merely looking and gazing into your dog's' eyes triggers this hormone's rush in both the dog and the owner.
There is one undeniable winning premise when it comes to travel -- travel makes us all happy. As quarantines end and a COVID-19 vaccine becomes available, the next step will be repairing the mental health damage the virus has caused. Travel makes us happier because it promises us the self-discovery needed to reach the pinnacle of Abraham Maslow's view of the human hierarchy of needs. A new Washington State University study examined the impact of traveling on long-term emotional wellness. The results reveal people who regularly take trips of at least 75 miles from their home are about seven percent happier than respondents who rarely travel. The survey also discovered that just talking about a possible vacation can will it into existence. Happiness fans start taking and get out the Google maps as a great summer is coming sooner than you think.
