A very special welcome to all the new children and their families who started school last week. I know they will enjoy their time at our school.
It is also nice to be back and see the children, staff and families after a wonderful 3 month sabbatical around Europe. Thank you to the Board for allowing me to apply. Congratulations to the Board on their decision to appoint Peter Thorne as Principal from Term 2 2025. Peter will be fantastic and the staff are delighted. Ali Levitt has been appointed Deputy Principal and will not be a classroom teacher next year.
Our staffing will remain the same for next year, with us also welcoming Emma Naera back from maternity leave and we have just appointed Hannah Powell to take on the role as a specialist Physical Education teacher.
Catherine Peake, our outstanding music teacher, has won a position as Head of Department Music at Hamilton Girls’ High School. We are currently advertising for a specialist music teacher. We are happy for Cat and we will farewell her appropriately. She has been fantastic for our children and staff.
Our school relies heavily on school donations. We would like to remind families that school donations are essential to maintain our teacher aides, which all children benefit from. We buy school resources, sports and PE equipment, maintain the pool and purchase IT equipment that all children use, instead of asking parents to supply the devices. Our donation of $350 per child per year is cheaper than our other Peninsula Schools (and cheaper than Early Childhood fees). By paying the donation you are also entitled to 33% tax relief. I ask you to please pay your donation if you have not paid it. You can do this through your KINDO app.
