Deals, steals, and news from author Michelle Isenhoff.

Remember way back in January I told you I was working on my third and final Taylor Davis book? That I hoped to have it out by summer? Well, glory be, I actually did it!

The last two years have been tough. I have a teenage son with ulcerative colitis, and we've tried to take a natural approach to healing. That included an extremely clean, everything-homemade diet, which means I became a full-time cook. (And doctor visit driver. And UC researcher. And recipe developer. And temporary homeschool teacher. And regular high school go-between person.,,)

Writing time? What's that?

So I've been picking away at TD3 for two years, and it is currently in the final stages of editing. I plan to release it right around July first. If you want a sneak peek, the first five chapters are freely downloadable on my website. Or, if you're new to the series, just grab the first book, Flame of Findul. It's currently FREE at all major online vendors.

Got kids? This particular series is especially designed for middle graders. It's fast-paced, with quirky characters, crazy predicaments, humor, and lots and lots of sci-fi gadgets. The first two books were written in conjunction with two sixth-grade advanced language arts classrooms. Groups critiqued each 10,000-word section of text as I wrote it and gave their feedback. Super fun way to write!

I wasn't working fast enough to enlist another classroom this time, but TD3 is written in the same kid-pleasing style.  Every single time I have asked group of kids familiar with my work which of my series is their favorite, they have always, unfailing, said Taylor Davis. Book one even placed as a finalist in the kid-judged Wishing Shelf Book Awards. So if you're looking for summer reading for your kids, grab these up! By the time they read through books 1 and 2, the third will be available.

Before you go, be sure to check out the books and promos featured below. They're always free or bargain priced. I generally bounce between speculative and historical fiction (the main genres I write in), and sometimes some fantasy, middle grade, or a bit of romance, just to keep things interesting.

Happy reading!

Michelle
