It’s Homecoming/Rally Day at Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church!
The call to worship was given by Interim Pastor, Rev. Dr. Samuel U. Peoples. “We came to praise the Lord this morning!”
Homecoming Rally Day Mistress of Ceremony, Sister Elizabeth Taylor, gave a hearty welcome and shared her love of Jesus with all who were in attendance! “The doors are open! You are so welcomed and loved!”
Sister Lisa Young-Molinari and the Mass Choir sang an encouraging rendition of the worship song, “Smile.”
Sister Mildred White shared the morning scripture reading from Psalm 126:1-3 followed by Brother William Bland who went to the throne of grace, offering our spirit filled morning prayer, reflecting on true thanksgiving and praise. “Just a little talk with Jesus will make everything all right!”
Sister Kierra Joseph shared the church theme and offered warm words of welcome to all visitors and friends.
Sister Bilan White led the mass choir in a soul stirring rendition of the gospel classic, “Jesus Will Work It Out.”
Sisters Kellye and McKinley Emerson shared a poignant reflection of “What Homecoming Means To Us.” “Homecoming is a spiritual celebration of belonging, grace and renewal. God's house is always open. Church isn’t just where I go, it’s who I am. It's my spiritual family. Home signifies a place of belonging, safety, comfort and where you find peace. There’s no place like home!”
Sister June Bradford presented our Homecoming/Rally Day preacher, Interim Pastor Rev. Dr. Samuel U. Peoples.
Sister Emerson Jackson led the children in singing “Hang On!” (Whatcha Gonna Do When Your Back’s Against The Wall). They also sang “Troop’s Prayer” (Hear Our Prayer, Don’t Let Us Fall Away From You).
Rev. Dr. Samuel U. Peoples shared a special Homecoming/Rally Day word from Psalms 126:1-3 entitled “Great Things For Us!” He shared how this Psalm speaks of the joy and restoration experienced by the people of Israel when they returned from exile in Babylon.
Rev. Peoples proclaimed how God is, “a do it again God.” He reminded us that “When I look to the hills, it’s where I get my hope.” He shared how captivity will bring correction. “Much prayer, much power. When was the last time you called on the Lord and didn’t ask for anything? Is there anyone who will thank God for what He’s already done? Enter into His gates with thanksgiving. I know you think you’re in charge but God’s been too good to me to not give Him credit.”
He shared how “your captivity and your deliverance is your testimony that you didn’t do it. Your deliverance was not because of you but because of God! You should shout that my captivity didn’t kill me! The Lord looked beyond your faults and saw all your needs!”
“God’s movement is infectious. God’s got His hands on you! The faith remained. God has blessed Pleasant Green for hundreds of years!”
Rev Peoples closed with powerful words of wisdom. “You’ve got a reason to praise the Lord!” Don’t give up on Him! Through it all, I’ve learned to trust in Jesus.””He’s my HIGHTOWER, buckler and shield. He’s my LILY in my valley, He’s my ROSE OF SHARON, He’s my BRIDGE over troubled water, He’s my ROCK in a weary land. He’s my SHELTER in a stormy blast, He’s my BREAD when I’m hungry, He’s my WATER when I’m Thirsty, when I’m sad He makes me GLAD! He’s My FRIEND!
The invitation was extended and the choir and congregation sang, “I Don’t Feel Noways Tired” (I Don’t Believe He Brought Me This Far To Leave Me!”)
Rev Peoples comforted Sisters Kierra Joseph and Jenny Cotton who asked the church for prayer. He prayed for the entire church congregation humbly asking for God’s protection and blessings in Jesus name!
The offertory appeal and prayer was given by Brother Kered Anderson. The suggested taxation is $60. “We pray you give what you can. Love one another and love God.”
To God Be The Glory for our 2025 Homecoming/Rally Day! We are truly blessed this day by the Goodness of God!
