KALPA Galleries' vision revolves around the concepts of high arts refinement, an intuitive passion for craftsmanship, and a holistic approach to interior design. The style balances elegance and simplicity, contemporary and past, and West and East in an all-encompassing wabi-sabi sensibility.

At KALPA, we encompass the universal language of the human creative act, emphasising the continuity between the past, present, and future. We work with artists from multiple disciplines offering a prism of diverse cultural backgrounds, inspirations, techniques, and aesthetics.

In our historical and fascinating rooms, the language of the interior architecture establishes a stimulating synergy with the selected art, spanning wall and sculptural artworks made in a variety of materials, among them: alabaster, marble, bronze, clay, and raw earth, wood, Venetian glass, oil, acrylic, and mixed media.

Addressing ideas of intimacy, balance, and finesse, as well as an intuitive dialogue between finito and non-finito, our artists’ research begins with the observation of Nature to be translated into different forms, nuances, and media.

THE HOME OF KALPA

- in the midst of Tuscany’s beauty, in the magnificent centre of the ancient Etruscan city of Volterra.

KALPA Galleries are founded in the picturesque hilltop town of Volterra, in which the richness of past civilisation equals the incredible vastness of wild nature. The central Via Porta all’Arco welcomes both KALPA’s venues: the Palazzo Bonomini and the Atelier (a former alabaster workshop), featuring a sophisticated and elegant atmosphere, minimalistic furniture, and warm neutral tones.

Since 2019, KALPA has been engaging in a major restoration project of the XVI-century Palazzo Bonomini, unveiling its ancient walls, working with artisans, using natural materials and local stone, and melding modernity and history. In our constant quest for beauty, the Palazzo is slowly revealing its inner nature, the traces left by the passage of time, its secrets, and ancient whispers.

KALPA ART CONSULTANCY

- we offer in-depth research, advisory, sourcing and bespoke art and craft creations for unfading meaningful interiors.

We specialise in art consultancy for private and public spaces, assisting interior designers and architects in the selection of perfectly integrated artworks. We embark on advisory projects with partners and clients with whom we share our aesthetic vision, enhancing their interiors with valuable art pieces.

Among our recent collaborations, KALPA Galleries have been contributing to the unique prestigious AMAN New York hotel and residential project providing extensive art research and implementation, working alongside the international teams of AMAN and the legendary Denniston Studio. We have been bringing to these stunning interiors over 100 great artworks from large scale central foyer pieces to small collateral objects decorating the lounges, suites and private areas, all in one coherent vision.

KALPA EXHIBITIONS

- Kalpa ( कल्प ) is a Sanskrit word meaning the period of time between the creation and recreation of a world or universe. 

In reliance on our curatorial expertise, we create sophisticated and immersive exhibition setups, unexpected dialogues between contemporary art and archeological artifacts, and new perspectives on traditional techniques within a melody of textures, colours, and materials. This is the realm of KALPA exhibitions. 

Since its foundation in 2019, the Galleries have collaborated with prestigious partners, public institutions, and museums to create dynamic and multifaceted solo and group exhibitions in multiple historic locations, presenting the work of international artists.
