I really hate it when stores stock swimsuits in January, television runs commercials that push back-to-school on July 5th, and radio stations play holiday music in October. But since September is the month organizers begin planning Christmas programs, I'm going to put in a plug for the seven I've published.
When the folks in my church found out I was a writer, I got pressed into service as the scriptwriter, director, and producer of our yearly pageants for an entire decade. Eventually, I got good enough at it to package them up and pass them on. Since making them available, I've received some encouraging feedback from other directors!
My Candle Star Christmas Productions are a series of simple-to-produce Christmas plays designed for small churches or schools. Each one immerses viewers in a powerful story, often centered in Jewish New Testament culture, that clearly presents the gospel message and leaves no question about the true meaning of Christmas. Combined with suggested music (included only when noted), estimated lengths range between forty-five minutes to one hour.
Know a pastor or drama director who might be interested? Please forward this email! I've made the first half of each play available for preview on my website. I hope someone finds these useful!
