Tales from the High Stool - 9pm.
Pádraig Ó Cuinn hosts this program on 2RRR with interviews with people involved in local & global music. Guests are invited into a virtual 'pub' to sit on 'The High Stool', & discuss music, musical influences, & whatever they like, with their virtual 'bar-person'.
This week his guests are Victoria Vigenser and Lindsay Martin of We Mavericks! We Mavericks have a unique sound and play folk that resembles everything else! This award-winning duo who always pack emotional punches but have songs to heal the scars may break the legs off the high stools as they always come armed with challenging originals, entertaining stories and incredible energy and will play live in the 2RRR studio as well as sharing some insight into their musical influences.
Martin’s masterful strings and vocal meets Vigenser’s magnificent voice, with barefoot rhythms and a connection you have to hear to believe. Their trademark tightness and strangely gritty, evocative performances have seen them on a steep and fast rise to festivals and shows in both home countries; Nominated “Best Folk Artist 2020” in the NZ Music Awards and recipients of the 2020 Troubadour Foundation Award, We Mavericks’ organic blend of pop-folk has echoes of soulful Americana and Celtic roots amongst the harmonies.
Soon to be releasing their debut album, We Mavericks bring a raft of captivating originals in the sort of show that’s sure to leave your tank topped up. You can catch them at the upcoming Sydney Folk Festival, August 13-15th.
Streaming live on 2RRR (88.5MHz FM). Podcasts online after each show. Send suggestions for music, suitable guest etc. to Patrick.

Her latest album, 'Woven', features Australian story-songs written with “real emotional & narrative depth” (Fred Smith), in the language of the Australian landscape. We are so lucky to be hosting the Sydney premiere of her latest album...bring some cash to buy it.
Craig Sinclair - Craig combines timeless folk story-telling with a lyrical fingerstyle acoustic & slide guitar style, to craft a mesmerising & uniquely Australian blues sound. NOWRA: Charlie & Jensen + The Water Runners - 7pm
Charlie & Jensen - a musical conversation between acoustic artists Hunter Beasley & Luke Wright. They journey through genres, shifting from vocally charged original songs, to virtuosic instrumental tunes, taking a stripped-back, raw approach to music & performance. They have toured Australia many times, incl. with Italian & World Music sensation Unavantaluna, & have pleased crowds at some of the favourite Folk & Bluegrass Festivals, incl. National Folk Festival, Cobargo, Dorrigo, Tamworth Country Music Festival. Their self-titled album had two award nominations at the Golden Guitar awards. On YouTube.
The Water Runners. Based in Gerringong & Kiama, they play a high energy blend of Australian folk, plus mostly original songs that combine influences from bluegrass, country, traditional folk & roots as well as the work of contemporary folk artists like Paul Kelly, John Flannagan & The Morrisons. Tight harmonies, strong musicianship, clever song writing & great stage banter - engaging & entertaining live shows.
