Spring has arrived early in the hollows of Central Virginia. Red Maple has already been in full bloom for a while, Salamanders have already migrated, the earth is greening up quickly, perhaps too quickly. We didn't have much of a winter, so I've been feeling a little uneasy without that longer period of rest, combined with contemplating upcoming climactic patterns or lack thereof. Nevertheless, I go on and pickle the first Magnolia buds of the season, spread Ginseng seeds with Little Bluestem Collective, and watch Venus and Jupiter kissing in the sky.
Recently, I attended my first prescribed burn with Center for Urban Habitats and am eager to learn more about fire ecology in regards to local lands. I've also been busy dreaming up and co-germinating some Spring Classes and Collaborations...check them out below!
This class combines elements of somatic movement therapy, gentle yoga, intuitive movement, and nature connection. The time will be devoted to tending the terrain of our bodies and souls while also connecting with the outer landscape of spring. Though spring can bring in a lot of upward/outward and vitalizing bursts of energy, by holding this class at sunset, we will balance out the urgency and fast pace of spring and focus on slowing down and absorbing the gifts of the season.
This class is for you if you would benefit from committing more time to listening to your body, learning restorative movement patterns, exploring creativity and intuition, and understanding the connections between the nervous system, emotions, physicality, and environment. Some parts of the class may feel like a typical yoga class, while other parts will be more interactive, improvisational, and group-oriented.
Reach out if you have any questions!
Participants must e-mail email@example.com to register for class. More details and instructions will be provided before each class.
Class will run according to enrollment numbers, so please only register if you can commit to coming to class.

Classes at The Gaia Gathering
I will be teaching two different classes as part of the Gaia Gathering this year in early May in Central Virginia. One will be a class for youth called "Song and Dance as a Gift" and one will be a class for adults called "Ecosomatics and Eros." Stay tuned for their registration link to go live later in March...
Felt and Feral Grounds: Interactive Art Installation, Performance, Workshops
Since last Fall/Winter, I've been meeting regularly with Taylor Hanigosky of Wild Altar Farmstead and a couple of awesome dancers from Harrisonburg to devise an interactive performance for the opening night of Taylor's art installation, "Felt and Feral Grounds." I've also been building ideas for interactive eco-somatic workshops to go along with the show.
Some of the most prominent materials in the show are Taylor's felted works. But if the term "Geologic Empathy" sounds intriguing to you, you probably want to come to this installation to explore how the process of felting relates to earth-moving processes!
Stay tuned for more official details and the dates of the show...
