(Milford, MA) - - Mayflower Council, Inc, Boy Scouts of America, announced that they have acquired an office building in Milford, MA to serve as their new Service Center headquarters. The building, located at 83 Cedar Street, Milford, will provide 8,100 sq. ft. of office and meeting space for the Council’s 17 professional and support staff. The new facility replaces the 10,000 sq. ft. in Marlborough as well as the former 2,500 sq. ft. satellite office in Canton.
“We’re excited to move into our new home,” said Bryan Feather, Scout Executive and CEO. “It will allow us to consolidate some services to realize savings. A bonus is that we will be establishing firm roots in an active Scouting community.”
Council President, Mike Rotar echoed Feather’s comment adding, “Our New Service Center Committee searched for over a year for a location. While the new Service Center is ideally situated near the population center of our Council, we will also have a host of services that are supported by technology to help streamline remote access. Our goal is to make access to our services easy for our council, district, and unit volunteers.”
The move from their former headquarters in Marlborough, MA is expected to take place on October 5 upon completion of some modest upgrades to the facility. A formal Open House is planned for late spring 2021. In the meantime, due to COVID-19, the Service Center remains closed with access by appointment only.
Mayflower Council serves over 250 Cub Packs, Scout Troops, Venture & Explorer Units comprised of nearly 10,000 youth and adults in 62 communities from Marlborough to Plymouth. The Council’s three camps: Camp Squanto, Plymouth; Camp Resolute, Bolton; and Nobscot Scout Reservation, Sudbury remain open for our units to tent camp overnight, and for day-hiking.
