đź’§ Generate drip campaigns from Google Sheets

Hey makers,

I’ve been thinking of creating an email course and I've looked at available tools. So far I was not able to find an email drip tool that would fit my needs.

🔥Problem: Existing marketing tools force you to create each step of your drip individually. This is probably great for design-heavy emails, but for me this is overkill.

I’m trying to build an email course with simple text emails. Each lesson is a separate email. My course would be 30 emails long. I don’t want to create each email separately, since they have a simple text format.

🧯Solution: an app that populates a drip campaign from a Google Spreadsheet or an Airtable.

Each row is a separate email in my campaign. Ideally the tool would support markdown, so I could format my emails in the spreadsheet.

Here’s what the table could look like:

👍 What are the benefits?

  • Users don't have to duplicate each email, they are created automatically from data in the sheet.
  • This is great for creating email courses or other campaigns that don’t require advanced formatting.

🤑 Are people currently spending money on this?

Yes, a ton of paid ESPs provide drip campaign services, people are also paying for course platforms. The market is there. The question is if they’d pay for another marketing tool.

âś… What do I need to validate?

  • Are simple use-cases like creating email courses and sending simple marketing messages valid?
  • Are people willing to pay for yet another marketing tool?

🧰 How I'd validate?

  1. Reach out to people that have created email courses in the past and ask them about their process and their pain points. Go deep on the tools they've used. If you feel there is enough frustration with existing tooling, proceed to step 2.
  2. Build a landing page with key visuals, share with content creators, get signups.
  3. Build a prototype using as many out of the box components as possible.

🤔 How will I get first 10 customers?

  • Share with course creators and indie content creators.
  • Find 1 or 2 early adopters to try it with their audience.
  • Write about successful creators leveraging email courses.
