The theme for this year’s Easwaramma day program is Sacrifice. Sacrifice has a much deeper meaning in real terms but it’s very difficult for some Bal Vikas students to comprehend this at their tender age. Let alone children, it’s very difficult even for adults to understand the true essence of Sacrifice! The dictionary meaning of sacrifice states – give up (something valued) for the sake of other considerations.
After having discussed this quality of sacrifice over some weeks in Bal Vikas, children were asked what they had sacrificed to give their time to attend the classes every Sunday and what they benefitted from this sacrifice. They put their understanding of sacrifice into very simple words to bring to life the quality of sacrifice in their day-to-day lives. Here are some of their thoughts:
If I wouldn’t be attending SSE on Sunday, I would be playing football with my friends, but I like coming to Bal Vikas as I learn new things”- Kairav Patel G2 Y2
“I learn about world religions and make new friends when coming to Bal Vikas so its time worth sacrificing for my own spiritual upliftment.” – Shree Patel G2 Y2
“I am sacrificing sleep time as I don’t get a lie- in any other day but it’s all worth it as I feel my inner self is awakened after listening to stories of historic legends.” – Sathya Gadhia G3 Y1
“I would have played with my pet dog if I weren’t attending SSE but it’s worth the sacrifice as I can learn from SSE to be kind and compassionate which helps me in treating others with Love.” – Shreesha Ramesh G2Y2
Leicester Central is part of the Region 4 centers operating Nationally. We, the SSE group of Region 4 are also going to take part in London for the annual National Easwaramma day celebrations which are taking place on the 7th of May 2022. Our SSE children will bring to the stage the small acts of sacrifice we can carry out to thereafter follow this pathway of righteousness that Swami has taught us through SSE/Balvikas. This will eventually help us understand bigger acts of sacrifice soon. If the noble act of sacrifice is instilled in our character from a young age, we will all be devotional adults free from Anger, Pride, Ego, and Unhappiness.
