The Young at Heart group will host a bake sale September 25th immediately after the church service.
We are looking to provide a wide variety of items such as brownies, cakes, pastries, doughnuts, cookies, pies and strudels. Please join us in baking and buying your most favorite dessert!
Please sign up to bring a yummy treat. Those wanting to purchase a treat may do so before the service; however, the main sale is to be held immediately after the service. Payment is cash or check only with the proceeds to benefit the Young at Heart group activities.
ALSO, because of the bake sale, we will NOT be having FAMILY TABLE that day; only the coffee will be set up.
SEARCH COMMITTEE UPDATE
Time continues to move quickly. This Search Committee first met on May 1 ...four months ago. We have had 18 meetings in that time. We have previewed the resumes of many Senior Pastor candidates, listened to a crazy number of sermons and had Zoom calls with the Pastors we felt might be best for our church. We have been encouraged by the quality of candidates we have seen…but the process takes time. From the onset we have said we need to have a “sense of urgency” but not be rushed. That continues to be how we are working on this very important task. We are going through a process. Our congregation requires a special Pastor, a Pastor that has God’s blessing. We are listening to you, and we are listening to God. Thank you for your prayers. Please continue to ask Him for our discernment in this selection. We know He is with us...but we are working on His timeline, not our timeline.
The church congregational tour of Dogwood Lane Children's Academy will be October 9th following the church service. After the tour, lunch will be graciously provided by Martin & Jessica Salas.
Join us this Sunday! Check-in begins at 10:45

Camp Centurion Update
The July issue of Koinonia introduced a new outreach partner for our church. Camp Centurion is the future home for (up to) 11 military veterans that are having difficulty adjusting to society due to experiences they had while serving our country. The house is in Bessemer City, NC, and the hope is for the dedication of this new home to be held on Veteran’s Day, November 11 (we will keep you updated on this).
We often talk about “how can we reach people”. This church has a history of assisting in reaching people that need our help, but will never grace the doors of our church. CAAC, Stellie J. Jackson Enrichment Center, York County Habitat for Humanity Clover Satellite, River Hills Community Church Preschool are all examples of programs that were created by or strategically advanced in conjunction with the Missions team at our church.
Camp Centurion is another such mission. Since the July Koinonia article, a member of our church contacted a friend that works for National Gypsum. After some back/forth with this person, National Gypsum supplied all the wallboard needed to complete the interior of Camp Centurion so that the walls are now ready to be painted. And the wallboard they provided was their top-of-the-line product! Another member of our congregation asked a business that she works with about their flooring. After some back/forth, Prosource in Charlotte has agreed to supply all the flooring for this home…over 2400 square feet of new LVP. And a floor installer that happens to be a veteran has agreed to install the flooring for free.
Please look at the attached September newsletter from Camp Centurion. There are other opportunities for which you might be able to assist.
Many people in this world want to help, but do not know where or how to do so. If you know someone that might be able to help in one of the remaining areas of need, please contact Jon Dunn (704-579-0114) or Mark Woolery (704-534-0122).
It is very likely we will never see any of these veterans in our sanctuary…but they will feel the love of God through the outreach of this church. And that is what we are called to do.
