Hooray! It's the Summer holidays at last! It’s so lovely seeing families of all ages enjoying the amazing playpark, the good weather and the Great Field.

There are plenty of events happening this Summer at PiP and on The Great Field, including our children’s holiday clubs, a teenage hangout day, creative clay workshops, Bounce Around and The Poundbury Food and Arts Festival on the 6^th August.  Not forgetting our new exhibition of paintings from the U3A opening in the café from the 3^rd August!

Don't forget our new kiosk is now open on a Monday from 10.30 selling a selection of teas, coffees, cold drinks, cakes and ice-cream. Perfect for some refreshment after a session in the play park! Finally please do take a moment to nominate us for a Movement for Good award – just look below to see what we do in the community!

We are delighted to have Ben Sutton working for us over the Summer, who has just finished his GCSEs at Lychett Minster School and will be going on to study Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Computer Science in September!

Ben has developed a great sales app for the kiosk using a gaming platform which has saved us having to purchase another till. This includes features so that we can add and amend products as well as export sales data to Excel for accounting.

Ben runs the kiosk every Monday over the school holidays where we offer a range of hot and cold drinks, cakes and ice creams when the café is closed.

Foster Carers Summer Fete

It was lovely to see the Dorset Foster Carers Association holding their Summer fete on The Great Field today, the 27th July! The fete was very well-attended and offered a bouncy castle, stalls, games and refreshments. A range of entertainment including a choir and magician was enjoyed by all!

Music at the Pavilion -2nd September

We thoroughly enjoyed welcoming back Dr Jazz , the great Jazz trio of retired GPs, who entertained everyone royally on the 21^st July. They were able to play a much longer set for us to while away the afternoon to – bliss! Our next date is the 2^nd September from 12pm - 1pm so please come along and enjoy a relaxing hour of live music outside the café. Please contact lucy@pipspoundbury.com if you would like to play. Senior Social - 18th August

 Fiona and June loved welcoming friends old and new in July for free coffee, tea, cake and a chat. The popular sessions are held on the second Thursday of every month in our community room. Everyone welcome! The next coffee morning is on the 18th August between 10am - 12pm.

Founded in 1982, The University of The Third Age is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.

The U3A has members who draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other. Learning is its own reward.

It’s all voluntary; a typical U3A will be home to many activity groups covering hundreds of different subjects from birdwatching and geology to art and everything in between.

The U3A national body – The Third Age Trust looks after all the U3As in the UK, providing educational and administrative support.
