Staff Update

Wish Trisha Luck!

Last summer we were paired with Trisha Kopinetz, a West Chester University student, through CareerLink's EDSI program.  After our time with CareerLink ran out we made the no-brainer decision to keep Trisha on staff as a Program Coordinator.  While finishing her degree in Biology she worked remotely and returned to the office over breaks and this past Summer.  Trisha worked on Schuylkill Girls Who Walk, health fair coordination, the Safe Routes to Parks project, social media, and more!  

Our time with Trisha flew by and the day came earlier this month when we had to say goodbye and wish her well on her next chapter...graduate school for a Masters in Public Health.  Trisha's long-term plan is to continue her education to an eventual doctorate in Epidemiology.  We wish her all the best and look forward to her successful future!

LICC Back to School Fair

Bike Rodeo and Helmet Handout

VISION, partners, and volunteers participated in Intermediate Unit 29's first Back to School Fair.

VISION partnered with Pennsylvania Downtown Center to provide a bike rodeo in the IU gymnasium.  Giving kiddos the opportunity to take balance bikes for a spin through an course, to learn how to ride bikes, fit a helmet, follow signs, and follow direction.  

Additionally, we provided free helmets to early attendees and had additional helmets to borrow for the course, when we ran out of giveaway helmets. Injury Prevention staff from St Luke's University Health Network assisted by fitting participants in helmets. Over 500 participants attended the event!  We had 75 helmets, made possible through Schuylkill Area Community Foundation grant funds.
