May 2020 Newsletter

While preparing to release this newsletter again from home, I can't help but note the distinctively different feeling I have - one of complete excitement and hope for the future.  My wife says I am optimistic to a fault, and I guess I am, but I can see the light at the end of this COVID19 tunnel, and I think it looks brighter than ever before.  We have taken our time away from seeing patients to grow.  We have been working on refining our processes, installing some new equipment, implementing protocol changes, and expanding our ways of communicating with you.  As always, your oral health care, safety, and experience at HDD has remained of paramount importance.  Check out some highlights below of what will be new at the office when we are able to fully re-open, and keep an eye on our social media as I plan on releasing a brief video explaining some updates.  Stay safe, stay healthy.  See you all very soon!

Dr. Jose A. Gil

All from the comfort of your couch!

We have added a virtual consult platform to our website and social media pages so you can conveniently reach Dr. Gil with any questions you have about what is possible with your smile.  It's very simple to use.  Click on the Smile Virtual Consult link, upload a picture of your smile, write a brief description of your question or concern, and Dr. Gil will send you back a personal video regarding your case.  He'll give you an idea about costs and the number of appointments your situation might require.  The best part: it's all free!  If you've ever had a burning question about improving your smile, wondered if something were achievable with your teeth, or were unaware of how much it would cost, this is a great way for you to shed light on those answers.  Try it out!

In the wake of COVID 19

Since the 1980's, dental offices have been notably contaminant conscious.  In fact, outside of a surgical operating room, you will be hard-pressed to find another health-care facility where the amount of PPE and attention to sterilization is as emphasized as it is within a dental office.  For us, being aware of potential risks for cross-contamination is standard of care.  That said, with the advent of new contagions like COVID-19, there is always a need to do better.  We have created a list of changes that we will be adopting when we reopen, including a touch-free hand sanitizing station and HEPA filtration devices.  In March, we established a COVID-19 risk questionnaire and began to record all visitor and staffs' temperatures.  We will continue to do so unless it is deemed prudent to end this practice.  As always, we will work to remain in 100% compliance with OSHA and CDC standards if any of our requirements change in the coming months.  Stay tuned to our social media for Dr. Gil's video of all of our adjustments.

May is Root Canal Awareness Month

We know. We know.  Who wants to talk about root canals?  But, if you need one, and your tooth is in good condition, it is a great way to preserve your tooth for more years of function.  And your natural teeth are definitely worth saving.  Every May, the American Association of Endodontists campaign to raise awareness for root canals and root canal specialists (endodontists).  We are lucky to have an endodontist to treat our patients on site at HDD - Dr. Gil's wife, Dr. Julee.  She is a board-certified endodontist and has been practicing in the specialty for over a decade.  Read more here about root canals, endodontists, and why are your natural teeth are worth saving.
