I am in a mild panic as I realize my house has too many walls I want to paint before the 25th of this month. I scrub walls, then line windows and doors with blue tape, and try to think about my writing. But that's not where my brain goes. 

Many writers face self-doubt. Some would say not being able to focus on the writing means I have writer’s block. I wouldn’t call it that. I’m flooding my brain with things that must be done and things that should be done and OMG I can’t get all that done by myself.

This is my late husband’s studio two weeks ago.        This is the same space today.

It took a lot of work to get here. Now it has to be painted. I’m already exhausted.

This sad York (image by Liza Trinidad from Pixabay) reflects the current state of my writing progress. Not much time for writing. I'm not even journaling daily right now. Too many other things need my attention. 

I scribble notes in my journal. I play a mental game of "what-if" while I clean and pack… and I trust my muse. She’ll be there to spew out words when I can sit and write. That said, it is much easier to write when I write a little every day. It takes less effort to get started and I write more words per session when I include writing in my mornings. Don’t worry, I’ll get back to that. I have to because I don’t feel like myself unless I’m writing.
