At this time of year, we reflect on our work over the last twelve months and look back on the support we have provided to settings all across the UK. It is quite humbling to have supported young people in so many settings and the testimonials we receive are heart-warming. In this newsletter, you can find out below we've been up to lately including our anti-drink spiking campaign and we have exciting awards news too!

We have been reviewing our impact and reach over the past year and we have:

• Delivered 340 staff/teacher training sessions, student workshops and assemblies and parent talks all over England and Scotland
• Supported 458 different schools, youth and sports clubs, children’s and young adult residential care settings and PRU’s with hard copies of our Talk About Alcohol programme, SEN and informal settings activity box or our 16+ alcohol and cannabis resources across the UK
• Provided 478 hard copies and downloads of our comprehensive Teacher Workbook and ready to deliver lesson plans, films, activity and fact sheets
• Distributed 8301 copies of our parent guide and 10506 copies of our guide for young people
• Provided 246 SEN and informal setting Activity Boxes to special schools, PRU’s and other youth settings
• Distributed 221 of our 16+ Alcohol and Cannabis workshop pack and resources to settings supporting vulnerable young adults.

Without the wonderful grants and donations we receive our work would not be possible so thank you. Thanks also go to our fantastically hard-working staff. Our full Impact report will be available at the end of the year!

We were overwhelmed by the response to our Safer Nights Out and Anti-Drink Spiking campaign which aimed to ensure that freshers are more equipped to stay safer when they go to college or university. We provided keyrings, posters, drink testing strips and awareness cards to 116 universities and colleges all across the UK including Bath Spa, University of The West of England, Oxford University, Newcastle, Bolton, Lancashire, Cirencester, Worcester, Gloucester, Nottingham and The City of Glasgow College.

Designed by young people for young people

The materials, social media campaign, films, content and poster design for our safer freshers and #enddrinkspiking campaign were designed and executed, with guidance from Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) and Newcastle University Wellbeing Team, by Molly Mason (Masters in documentary film making) and Martha Mason a recent computer and marketing Masters graduate. We can’t thank them enough for their creative input and professionalism and only wish we could keep them!

We were so moved by the generosity of the collections in the memory of a much-loved son who lost his life to alcohol, and we will be supporting schools in the area where he lived in his memory. Thank you.

Our wonderful Manager at our community café PiPs Poundbury and the Manager of The Duchess of Cornwall Inn in Poundbury have organised a wonderful sell-out fundraising dinner for us and The Lantern Trust on Friday 4^th November.

The generosity of Promises donated and raffle prizes given has been exceptional. These include original art works from Casterbridge Arts Society, a bespoke dinner cooked for you and your guests by Rosemary Rogers catering, a complete roast dinner for 8 from the Brace of Butchers, a spa experience for 2 from Monart Spa, sailing and lunch to Studland Bay and so much more! Karen familiarised Somerset Youth Justice with our programmes, games, films and resources through the Safer Somerset Partnership and it was great to see a wonderful example of partnership working to keep young people safe around alcohol. We were delighted to receive their lovely comment above.

Other outreach has included providing teacher training at The Khalsa Academy and The Kings School - both in Wolverhampton. We also love the autumn as it is a key time to come and talk to sixth formers at Strode and Weymouth Colleges, for example. It was excellent to deliver one of three sessions for all Year 10 students at Rugby School too.

Ensuring professionals working with young people in a range of settings are equipped with the skills and knowledge to support children around alcohol and other substances is key to our programme. Recently that has included 59 staff across Whitehead Ross who support young adults with employment and life skills as well as via the Dorset 0-25 VCS Forum with 15 youth professionals representing schools, youth organisations and the NHS.
