What am I Doing?
Reading:
Silent in the Sanctuary by Deanna Raybourn
This is the second book in Raybourn’s Lady Julia Grey mysteries, this time set just before Christmas at Julia’s family’s estate in Sussex. I love Julia’s eccentric family and it took me a while to figure out the killer. I’m hooked.
Death Below Stairs from Jennifer Ashley
Talented cook Kat Holloway takes a position in the rather odd household of wealthy Lord Rankin. Trouble soon finds its way into her kitchen when her young Irish assistant is murdered.
This is another historical mystery set in England. Historical mysteries have been the perfect pandemic reading for me. I’ve already bought the next book in this series.
Listening:
The song I’ll Fly Away, is featured in Hooked on a Feline. I discovered this version, from Ransomed Bluegrass, by accident, but the first part of their version of the song sounded just like what I was hearing in my head and I listened to it a lot while I was working on the scene in the book where it’s sung. The harmonies are beautiful.
I need to master both the G chord and the D chord so I can play I’ll Fly Away on my ukulele. (This may take a while.)
Doing:
I’m taking an on-line course, Stamp Carving 101, from the very talented Julie Fei-Fan Balzer. Julie is great at explaining things and I’d definitely take more courses from her. I was ridiculously proud of the first stamp—a heart—that I carved.
