My dear reader,
Did you enjoy Fantasy Romance February? How many books did you shove
into your digital bag on FaRoBub day? I've been working through my free
reads and have been absolutely raving about Abigail Reynolds' Mr Darcy's Enchantment.
As you can no doubt tell from the title, it's a Pride & Prejudice
variation featuring faeries and dryads, sorcerers (Mr Darcy) and illegal
witches (Elizabeth Bennet). There are some very clever
explanations for how and why Mr and Mrs Bennet became what we all know
them to be, silly and bitter. And oh, the slow burn between Darcy and
Elizabeth... the spice once they finally admit to themselves how they
feel!
Reader, I was up until 4:45 AM on a work night thinking, "Oh, just
one more chapter." I also went so far as to buy the physical copy
because I was curious just how big of a book did I read?
My dear reader! The book is 6" x 9" x 2" and must weigh a pound. When I
pulled it out of the packaging, my husband asked why I enjoyed reading
text books. 🤣 🥴
I was excited to see Ms Reynolds has made an entire career off
of Pride & Prejudice variations, but this was her first fantasy. Her
first! It was so well done. I can't wait to see if she will write more.
What was your favorite February read?
