State-mandated Assessments

The following dates are scheduled for state-mandated assessments:

Students are required to participate in state-mandated assessments in person so please plan accordingly.

Continuation Forms

We would love to have your child(ren) continue at Presidio for the 2022/2023 school year. In order to ensure your child(ren) maintain(s) enrollment, we need you to complete a Continuation Form for each child. Information regarding Continuation Forms has been sent via School Messenger; forms are due on/before March 10, 2022.

I realize that this month’s Principal’s Corner was far more bulleted, but we have a lot of important dates coming up in the near future and I wanted to ensure everyone had ample time to prepare. We aren’t even in March yet and it feels like the month is passing quickly! I wish you all a safe and productive month.

If you plan to have your student(s) return to Presidio for the 22/23 school year a continuation form must be completed in order to secure their spot. Continuation forms are to be completed online via PowerSchool this year. Letters were sent home with all students on Friday, February 4, to help parents/guardians learn how to access PowerSchool and how to create an account to complete the forms online. Please let us know if you have any questions about this process or if you need another copy of your letter. 

All Continuation Forms should be submitted via PowerSchool by March 10, 2022.

What: Presidio will be hosting its 2nd annual Virtual Career Fair where guest speakers will join us to talk about future career opportunities and continuing education at some of our local universities.
Audience: 8th grade through 12 grade students
When: March 11th, 2022 from 8am-12pm
Where: Google Meets (Links will be sent out closer to date)
Who: Empire Beauty, University of Arizona, Northern Arizona University, Pima Community College, Tucson Electrical Apprenticeship, Raytheon, US Navy, Brookline College, and Academy for Caregiving Excellence

The school has purchased a new aftercare management software program called Procare. The tentative date to start using Procare is March 21, 2022. Ms. Kim will be sending out information on how to use the program within the next two weeks. Also, please watch for information coming through SchoolMessenger email about how to use the Procare app or portal. When the program begins, all aspects of aftercare will be done electronically including registrations, sign-in/sign-out processes, invoicing and payments. We believe that the use of Procare will make aftercare more accessible to parents and simplify billing processes. Please watch for important information to help make the change to Procare as seamless as possible for your family.

Our 4th grade class has engaged in awesome and varied learning opportunities this month. We dived into the world of water conservation, division, descriptive writing, and so much more! Students have been working on their communication skills through group explorations in math and had to tell Mr. Miller exactly how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich through descriptive writing in ELA. We even had some amazing engineering moments at our recent STEM Fest where we worked to design and build the strongest bridge using only marshmallows and toothpicks. 4th grade ROCKS!

I am proud to share that 5th grader, Valencia Jacobson, is a Young Artists Contest winner with the Tucson Festival of Books! She will be at an awards ceremony during the festival in March to receive a prize of a $100 gift card to Sarnoff art store. Here is a photo of her watercolor painting that she submitted.

Dance and math met up to help students grasp the meaning of the symbols for greater than, less than, and equal to, through movement. I loved to hear the words, "OH! Now I get it!"

Learning about science and astronomy in particular also took place in dance - by dancing in the blustery wind of the earth and as we rotated around the Sun and learned about planets and more.

Mrs. Penazek is requesting donations of any of the following items for the dance program. All sizes from extra small child through small adult and/or as specified in the description will help.

• Black stretchy dress pants in all child sizes and/or pants from suits
• Black suit jackets or Tuxedo jackets size 5 boys through adult men's
• Unique costumes of all kinds and sizes such as princess, prince, clown, super hero, animals and anything that could be used to help create costumes such as sequins, bow ties, elastic, and hats of all kinds
• Used or new dance shoes (not MaryJane flats) including jazz, tap, ballet, and dance sneakers
• Biggest request and need is for stretchable tan or beige pants in youth sizes small, medium, large, and extra-large.
