The Philosophy of Rationalism: the view that regards reason as the chief source and test of knowledge. Reality is an inherently logical structure, and the rationalist states that a class of truths exists that the intellect can grasp directly. The rationalists’ confidence in reason, leads them to believe other forms of learning are less reliable. René Descartes (1596-1650) is considered the first of the modern philosophers to embrace Rationalism.
Bottom line, rationalism implies the source and test of knowledge is pretty much by reason alone. What do you think? Check it out for yourself, put it to the test and see if this works for you.
The optimist says, “The glass is half full.”
The pessimist says, “The glass is half empty.”
The rationalist says, “This glass is twice as big as it needs to be.”
