Hello church family!

This week we've just completed our second session of "LIfe Shared" and learning how complex it can be to share our faith.

We live in a cultural context that in many ways is inhospitable to the essentials of the Christian faith.

Of course, this shouldn't be surprising. Jesus also didn't fit in the culture of his day. He loved God and people perfectly, but some folks felt he didn't fit into the culture of his day and he was killed.

Now, our culture is much different than ancient Palestine, but they connect at a crucial point: contemporary culture is about many things but it's not about Jesus. So how do we follow Jesus and navigate the complexities of our modern lives in a world that isn't interested in Jesus?

Let's explore this together on Sunday.

In Christ,

Rev. Seth

Church Reopening Details and Survey Below:

The Anglican Diocese of Calgary has provided Parishes with guidelines, based upon protocols established by the Alberta government and our Diocesan Task force, on re-opening of church properties for worship and other activities. Implementation of these guidelines will result in a worship experience that is different from what we enjoyed before the pandemic. It should be noted that these guidelines could be altered as conditions related to the pandemic change.

Significant changes stipulated by the current guidelines include:

  • Services will be limited to a maximum of 50 people, including priests, musicians, etc
  • 2m distance must be maintained between households or individuals throughout the entire service (while gathering, during times seated or receiving communion, while leaving, etc)
  • Children must remain with their parents at all times. Sunday School will not be available.
  • The use of frequently touched items is to be avoided. This means, for example, that all hymnals and prayer books will be removed; the offering plate will not be distributed, but rather centrally available
  • Only one person at a time is permitted in the washrooms. The washroom must be sanitized between each person.
  • Congregational singing is not permitted; there will be no hymns. Instrumental music or the use of properly spaced soloists is allowed.
  • If Communion is to be observed, worshipers will receive wafers only (no bread) during the Eucharist. The wafer will be provided by the Presider or Priest (who must wear a mask) situated at a station(s) that enables social distancing during distribution.
  • Queuing or lining up to greet the Priest at the end of the service is not permitted
  • No coffee or snacks after the service are permitted.

Please note: These protocols and this survey are a point to which we start and we will be reviewing as we move forward.
