Fresh, local vegetables are not the stuff of myth and legends in the winter in the Mid-Atlantic region. “You can eat a diversified, fresh local diet all year round,” says Rebecca Northrop of Flying Plow Farm, a certified organic farm in Rising Sun, Maryland. “People ate before there were planes and tanker ships—and it wasn’t all preserved foods.”
Customers can find nearly everything they need for the week ahead at the winter season of the KSQ Farmers Market. Vegetables, mushrooms, meat, eggs, dairy, bread and baked goods, and more are available every Friday.

United Way of Southern Chester County (UWSCC) supports 23 nonprofit programs that serve the most vulnerable members of our community. For the second year in a row, UWSCC has had to cancel the Kennett Chocolate Lovers Festival, their largest annual fundraiser.
While this is sad news for the 1,500 people who come to enjoy the festival, it's really hard news for the agencies and community members who depend on the United Way. Please be as generous as you can in your support of this vital community nonprofit!
KATS, Inc. invites you to their annual British panto—the second longest-running British pantomime in America! Boo the villain, cheer the heroine, and help sing The Silly Song! There's lots of audience participation in this thinly-veiled children’s fairytale loaded with local commentary, British humo(u)r, and some outrageous costumes for good measure!
It's a winter wonderland at Square Pear Gallery, with an all-new show featuring paintings by area artists that explore and celebrate the beauty of the winter season—its light, shadow, textures, and colors.
Stop in anytime to enjoy the show! Square Pear Gallery is open 11am to 6pm, Wednesday through Saturday.
Thank you for supporting the KSQ Farmers Market and our local farmers and producers, including Cocky Gourmet Confections, through the winter season!
Although there are fewer in-person opportunities for this year's MLK Day of Service, we encourage you to take time on Monday to help those in need in our community.
