I hope you are managing to stay cool during this hot, hot, Covid summer. We are planning to get back to activities after Labour Day. The sign up process will remain the same as last year - pre-enrolment by email and sign up via phone. The specific dates are not confirmed yet as we are still very much in a state of flux with our venues due to the pandemic and the Covid variants that are now circulating. We will keep you posted, so keep an eye on the website.
Our community here in Brockville and the entire Lanark, Leeds and Grenville district health unit area has led the province in vaccination rates. Of the region’s population 12 years of age and over 90.2% have first doses and 82.8% have second doses (as of August 15, 2021).
This is good news for our own safety and also the safety of our community and the start up of our fall semester.
The Board has voted that anyone who has the privilege of coming to the Brockville 50+ Activity Centre must be fully vaccinated. I believe this will make our environment safer for all. There will be a box to check on the enrolment form to confirm your status.
There is still time to get a vaccination. If you have questions about the safety of the vaccine, or who should or shouldn't get it, contact the health unit at 1-844-369-1234 or your health care provider or a pharmacist. They can answer any questions you may have.
If you need assistance booking an appointment or getting there, please call our office at 613-345-2412 as we have volunteers to help you.
