Maxine French, biker chick.

A biker gang can't all be tough guys and towering mounds of muscle behemoths. Sprinkled here and there should be some women of the eye candy 'don't touch' type. Maxine French is one of them. I drew her at first referencing the singer Carly Simon, a 1970s icon who had a very distinctive level of beauty and wide toothy grin. Also a touch of Bridget Bardot from the 1960s.

As a fundraising gimmick on Kickstarter I offered backers the chance to get their name tattooed on her body as former boyfriends of hers... (plus one girlfriend). All below the name 'Slade,' her main man of course. Needless to say she got all covered up in no time.

The part where Calvin gets chased by the bikers was a little short. I inserted 2 pages of some more chase material (in comics to maintain the left-right page reads you need to add an even number of pages). From there it seemed Maxine was coming more to life than I anticipated. She started as an 'old lady' that is, a woman who rides in back of a biker on his bike. But Maxine didn't seem the sharing type though, too individual. She rides her own motorcycle. She became less and less an attachment to Slade.

She's not really part of the Banshees' group road-trip to the clubhouse, just crossing paths. I loved the way she looks over at Slade's face and starts cracking up.

It wasn't scripted that way but when I started drawing her I imagined that's exactly what she would do. Maxine's a dominant woman who takes no shit and isn't afraid to expose Slade's humiliating situation (gotten sprayed in the face with red paint) by laughing straight at him.
