How long have you been at DH?
Since the start of 2019.
How did you start classes with us?
I used to dance from when I was 2 years old until I was 16. Then our old dance school closed. We had always wanted to continue dancing, but it was tricky to find a school to start new being an adult, and a school that was welcoming and focused on making dancing fun rather than competitive. Finding Dance Habit was really exciting! It was daunting at first, but from the first class I felt welcome and knew it would be a good fit to start dancing again after 3 years away from it.
Did you have any fears or concerns starting classes at DH?
I was worried about students having greater knowledge and skills than myself and about it being a competitive environment. As soon as I arrived at the school though, I could tell everyone was friendly and supportive. I was also worried about not knowing much dancing terminology (still learning there).
What would you say have been your wins and achievements over this time at Dance Habit?
Recently I joined tap classes. It was scary to put tap shoes on after so long, but it was amazing after a few sessions to start picking things back up.
What keeps you coming back?
Dancing is a great activity for exercise, socialising and challenging yourself. Every time I leave class, I feel joyful and energised. I love watching the videos of our recent progress in a dance through the week and seeing the improvement from each one.
Would you share a precious memory with us?
I really enjoyed the concert of the first year. I remember watching all the different dance styles and talking about which ones I would like to try next.
