2. World Osteoporosis Day

Today is World Osteoporosis Day - a good moment to pay attention to this debilitating and widespread condition.

Despite the fact that it affects 3.5 million people across the UK, it was only mentioned in Parliament 31 times between 2015 and 2020. No wonder it's called the "silent disease".

3. Scottish disability payments rolling out

It can't come soon enough for people with a disability or long-term condition north of the border, who will gradually escape the tyranny of benefit assessments carried out by private companies on behalf of the DWP.

The first devolved benefit available is Child Disability Payment, which replaces DLA for children next month (November). Adult benefits will follow next spring, following trials in limited areas.

5. Oxford honour for charity founder

Peter Lyne, founder of the registered charity Mobility and Support Information Service (MASIS), has recently been appointed to the management team of the Oxford University Collaborating Centre for Values-based Practice in Health and Social Care based at St. Catherine's College.

The Centre was established to encourage networking between individuals and organisations who are keen to develop more effective ways of addressing values-based health and social care.
